 ****NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme update****

COVID-19 Vaccinations

The first phase of the NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme has started in the UK. Vaccinations are being delivered according to priority groups identified by the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). When it is the right time for you to receive the vaccine, you will receive an invitation to come forward. Please do not contact us to get an appointment, we will contact you.
Information on the vaccine is available on the NHS.UK website. For anything else, your GP practice is open and if you need to get in touch, please call us.

The public can really help the NHS to deliver our vaccination programmes effectively to those who need it most. Taking these simple steps will help us to help you.

•The NHS will contact you when it’s the right time to come forward, so please don’t contact us to seek a vaccine before then.

•Please act on your invitation when it arrives, and make sure you attend your appointments when you arrange them.

•In the meantime, please continue to abide by all the social distancing and hand hygiene guidance, which will still save lives.

The latest information on the COVID-19 vaccination programme is online on the NHS website. We advise checking there first if you have questions about the safety or effectiveness of COVID vaccines, or your priority to receive vaccination.

Important information about the coronavirus (COVID-19)

The NHS across Essex will be better prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases if the public follows Public Health England advice.

We have put in place measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff which may mean your patient experience is subject to change.

The Chief Medical Officer announced on Friday 13 March that the country has moved into the ‘Delay’ stage of the response to coronavirus (Covid-19).

The new advice issued by the Prime Minister is to stay at home for 14 days if one member of the household is affected and if you have either:

• a high temperature (37.8C or above) or
• a new continuous cough

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or a hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

• you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
• your condition gets worse
• your symptoms do not get better after seven days

Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.

Stay At Home advice can be found here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

• always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel
• wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
• avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, and
• avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

Information remains subject to regular change and updates. More information can be found on the NHS website here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
